Sprint – Do I have to have a certain amount on my credit card?

I am trying to get service through sprint. I have chosen phones that are free and there is no activation charge. I have to pay $0.00 today…problem is that it is rejecting my credit card. I just checked the balance on the card and there is money on it…does anyone know if I have to have a certain balance on the card? The sprint chat rep that I chatted with about the issues was an idiot and was not the least bit helpful.
