Try going to your bank account and applying through them..like through HSBC. They gave me my first card when I was 18 and had no credit.

If you’re heading to college I wouldn’t worry about finding a place, THEY will find YOU. They target people in college, my friend was flooded with credit card offers….Just be very careful how you use it/them

I got my first credit card from American express. They have a special blue student card. Though American express is not as widely accepted, I do like their service and offers and most important, when my card was stolen, and used to charged thousands, they did not ask anything and gave me a new one. I did not have to pay those fraudulent charges.

Everybody is going to do a credit check.
You will be seeing bunches of student credit card offers. Wait for one with no annual fee. The limit will be low, but you can pay it online in the middle of the month and restore your available credit. After a while, if you’ve been paying on time, they’ll raise your limit. The annual fee is high, but you don’t care because that only applies if you’re carrying a balance, which would be stupid.

free credit check
If I was you wait till you have a steady job to get a credit card. Dont do it thru your bank. If you do, it comes out of your checking account…a visa/mastercard from a checking account bank is deducted from your account. All credit cards come with a price… some will have you pay a membership fee just to have there credit card. Those credit cards are not worth having especially when there dues are $39-50 a month to keep. Just apply and see who accepts you. There going to check you regardless.
