Does WAMU do a credit check for new checking accounts?

They definitely use Checksys to check for a history of bad check writing….This is the main thing they look for for someone opening up a checking account……A history of bad credit won’t necessarily prevent you from getting a checking account…granted there’s no history of bad check writing…

Since your checking account isn’t a line of credit, they wont exactly be interested in bad or good credit, just whether you’ve engaged in fraud or bounced checks. I bank with Wamu, they’re very good.
