Yes it certainly is. I would call a credit bureau to confirm taht they checked your credit tell them you did not authourise this and ask what you can do about it.
NATHAN
NO
DEVIN
Did you apply for something?
MORTON
I don’t think so. If it is legal that’s kinda wrong.
ESTEBAN
No its not legal! thats against ur rights to ur privacy! but there are some incidences that they are oblige to check it esp. if ur getting a loan, its their way to chekck if u can pay right and ur capable of.
FIDEL
Is it an employer?
BROCK
Well, it IS legal for things like credit card pre-approval offers.
But if you go into a store, or are shopping around for a mortgage, they HAVE to get your approval before running the check.
If you’re doing something like getting insurance, or putting in a mortgage application, and you sign a paper giving permission, and verbally tell them not to run it, the permission on the paper, overrides your verbal declination.
Generally, they can’t run an accurate check without your SSN.

It is Illegal! You should start calling attornies to see if any are willing to file a lawsuit!

on my report it showed where a church in north carolina pulled my credit file without my permission or knowledge. After all the letters back and forth it was termed ” an error ” by someone giving them an incorrect ss#. Nothing was ever done about it and it is still listed until it falls off the end.
HARRY
that is definitely illegal. You have to give permission for that or at least sign something stating they can check your credit. What’s wrong with people today!!!!
