I’m not looking for a scheme like Rent a Center, I just want to make payments (maybe three months or less) and not undergo a credit check. I don’t want any high interest offers.
You aren’t going to find a lender that doesn’t perform a credit check. The credit check is the foundation of the process. As you apparently already know, poor credit risk leads to high interest offers, and you aren’t interested. It looks like your best bet is to go with a rental company who offers 90-120 days same as cash. Aaron’s is a good one that offers several benefits to the customer even after the merchandise is paid for, including price reduction on future purchases. If you truly have the ability to pay in full within 3-4 months, it is a win/win situation. If you are staunchly against the rental company, save your money, wait the 3 months and pay cash.
Try Rent-A-Center, but be prepared for astronomical fees. If you purchase through a “60 day, same as cash” promotion then you’ll pay about twice the value of what it’s worth or twice what you would pay if you were to buy it from Lowes etc. If you make payments for the duration of your contract, then be prepared to have spent enough to have bought that furniture set 4 times!! Call. You do the math and make sure that you ask lots of questions!
