Are you military? If you are, Navy Federal. I bank with BBT, but I don’t think they are free (they merged with my old bank; I had free checking there so BBT waived their fees.)
Sadly, the big banks are buying out all the small banks in the area, so it’s hard to find free checking.
I know people are happy with Chevy Chase bank. Plus, they are in every Giant grocery store!
