what does a credit check involve when renting a property?

i want to rent a property. the letting agent wants £120 to do a credit check. what does it involve? i have moved house with my parents 3 times in 3 years. will this go bad on the credit check because the letting agent said they check for ccjs and the elect roll. what do they actually look for and do they actually do one?

Credit Check?

I have bad credit. I have a few credit cards that are sent to the collection agency. I have a car and I’ve paid it on time every month for the last 3 years.

I just got offered a new job; however, before officially being hired I need to do a credit check.

The HR people at the company said as long as I can get a credit card, I can pass the check. Every once in a while, I’ll get a pre-approved credit card offer from some crappy 2nd or 3rd rate bank. Does that count.

Do you think I will lose the job b/c my credit is bad?
Not fired, but I will not receive (lose) the job offer.
