Identity Theft, Credit Report Monitoring and Free Credit Score Check

Jeong Lee asked:

Has anyone applied for a credit card or a loan online or over the phone recently? It is incredibly easily. All anyone needs to know is a few personal details and they are on their way to get a credit card on someone else’s name. That is why identity Theft is increasing. Once they get hold of a person’s social security number with a few personal details, they can easily open bank accounts, get credit cards and loans. Only 2% of Americans know their credit score, let alone checking it regularly. So Crooks can operate freely without being detected. This is a lucrative business for them. Once they get a credit card they can immediately transfer $1,000s to a bank account straight away.

Early detection is the key for stopping these activities. There is credit monitoring services at a minimal monthly fee. They inform their client as soon as there is a change in their credit report. Changes could be a new search on their client by a card company, new loan application or new payment set up. The recipient of service can check his credit report anytime and find out his score. It takes 100s of hours to sort out any fraudulent transaction and may cost $100s of dollars. On top of it all the worries and frustrations identity theft causes.

People may not want to get identity theft insurance or enrol in a credit monitoring services, but they can at least check their credit score every so often. Many companies provide free credit check. The applicant may have to take the free trial credit monitoring subscription. This would allow them to test drive the service for the free trial period. Should they decide that the service is not for them they cancel before the free trial ends and keep their free score check.

It is true that it may not happen to many people. Nevertheless there are other benefits to keeping a good credit score. A good credit score could save $100s per month for a mortgage applicant or a homeowner who is refinancing his home mortgage. Between a good credit score and a low credit score there really could be that much difference. Not only that, a person with a low credit score may not even qualify for much needed loan or mortgage. At least, anyone considering applying for a loan or a mortgage in the near future should check their credit report.

Finding Catalogues With No Credit Check

Harry Biel asked:

It’s hard to shop if you have your hands tied at home or if you don’t have a car to take you where you want to go -especially if the new furniture you have been waiting for or that new piece of technological hardware just came out. In this situation, people choose to shop through catalogues and sometimes opt to pay weekly instead. It looks easy, but let’s say that your credit score is far from stellar and you want to apply for their catalogue credit cards. Would you still want to buy the things that you want? If so, what would you do then?

In this case, those with a bad credit history would find applying for this kind of loan difficult. Luckily, there are loans that skip credit checks altogether, but these have higher interest rates than most. Additionally, those that go for catalogue credit cards would find their purchases limited to that vendor only. However, the process is easy this way, not to mention quicker. Mostly, companies would only ask for identification and an address, and correspondence usually takes less than 24 hours.

Short-term loans like these, as mentioned previously, high interest rates, and a missed payment can definitely mess up your credit score. It’s not surprising to see an interest rate of over 20 per cent in your loan, but long-time catalogue shoppers don’t mind much. Think of it as the price paid for both convenience and delivery. Thus the phenomenon that is online shopping starts to make sense -those two factors are the main characteristics that draw customers in, and it’s hard to break this cycle despite the awareness of the high interest rates.

Will catalogue shopping drive you deeper into debt and ruin your financial status altogether? Not necessarily. It is useful and convenient, but you have to be responsible over the things you want to spend your money on. Do you really want to buy a vase online when you can find the exact same design on a vase displayed at a garage sale next door? Probably not, so smart shopping is a must here. But if you are in a substantial amount of debt and really need to buy that brand new couch for your living room, it’s pretty easy to find catalogues with no credit checks online. No employment verification is needed, and it’s not all that hard to garner approval from these sites.

So if you’re quite the home buddy or if you’re a full-time mother babysitting three children, it would not hurt to try catalogue shopping, and this is possible even with a bad credit score. It saves a lot of time, and it is very convenient for those who want their stuff delivered right to their doorstep. The only feasible disadvantages of catalogue shopping is that they can have sky-high interest rates, and some of the catalogue credit cards are only usable with one company. Still, if it appeals to you, it provides you with an interesting and an overall time-saving and hassle-free way to shop.

No Credit Check in House Merchant Financing Program

Louis Jeffries asked:

Merchant Finance Program

As a merchant who offers a product or service that costs $300 or more. Wouldn’t it help you if you could offer a finance program to your customers that 95% of them would qualify for? I would imagine you could add a few more sales per week or month which could really improve your profitability. There is a new “no credit check finance program” for merchants like you to offer to your customers. This program works anywhere in America.

Four Ways to Buy

Today your clients have four ways to pay when they buy from you. They can pay cash, use a debit or credit card, pay by check or use your financing program (if you are fortunate and savvy enough to have one).
Pay Cash: Cash is king and is almost always the best option for most merchants. Unfortunately most people do not carry cash, especially larger sums like $500, $1500 or $3,000. Most Merchants like cash. Debit or Credit Card: Today more often than not this is how most customers make their purchases. As long as you have a relationship with a good merchant services company you gladly accept debit and credit cards. Depending on your merchant services company and your business and personal credit profile they may charge you between 1.9% or 3.5% maybe a little higher or lower. Most businesses have this cost factored into their price as a cost to do business. To get the sale you must accept this form of payment. Especially if you have a virtual company, you must be able to accept debit and credit card transactions. Single Check: Like cash this form of payment is going the way of the dinosaur. People just do not carry checks like they did in the past. One other reason is that merchants generally do not want to accept the risk of a check not clearing.. There is a solution for business to accept checks. They can use the services of a check guarantee company. They work similar to a merchant services company by running the check through their processing machine and determining if the writer is on a “bad check writing watch list” or if the checks have been reported stolen. The check guarantee company then guarantees the check is good, converts it into an electronic funds transfer item, which makes it payable immediately. This has a few benefits for the merchant. First there is no hold on the checks and the money is deposited into there accounts within 48 hours. There is also no reason to run to the bank to deposit the check (which many banks are charging merchants a fee to do so). Most importantly the check is guaranteed good and there are no return checks or return check fees. Financing Program: The obvious reason this is not prevalent today is that most merchants do not offer one. If they did many clients would not qualify for financing. First banks are very tight in financing customers today. They are reducing the credit lines on their good customers and canceling the accounts of their marginal ones. Even if you are fortunate enough to be able to offer a financing program to your customers 50% of them will not have the credit to qualify. But today you have the ability to offer your customers a “Complete Payment Solution”. You can offer your customers a “No Credit Check Finance Program” where they can finance up to $5,000 for 90 days and the money is guaranteed to you by your merchant services company. This means without a credit check your customer could qualify to finance their purchase from you.

No Credit Check Required For Prepaid Debit Cards

P. Zulueta asked:

If you have a less-than-perfect credit history, nothing can be more nerve-wracking than going through a credit check in the hopes of getting approved for a debit card. Although debit cards are usually offered for free along with your checking account, there is still a ChexSystems check required in order to get approved – and if you don’t pass this check, you won’t get your debit card! So what’s a person to do in order to get the debit card without having to go through the process of yet another credit check?

Here’s your answer: Look for debit cards that don’t require any credit checks whatsoever!

Is there such a card? Yes, there are banks out there that don’t require a credit check in order to get you that plastic. For example, some banks will only require an ID check in order to approve you for a debit card. Simply provide your social security number and physical street address and watch how fast that debit card ends up in your hands!

Additionally, if you’re a student with no credit history whatsoever, you can still get a debit card without going through a credit check. Many banks offer bank accounts, debit cards and other services that cater specifically to the student population – and all you’ll need is to fill out a simple application! However, with these accounts, it’s important to read the fine print, as you may be slapped with higher-than-normal fees due to your student status.

If you’re unable to find a local branch that offers a debit card without a credit check, then perhaps a prepaid debit card is your best bet. These convenient cards are easy to obtain and require no credit history or employment verification whatsoever – and more importantly, they’re more secure than ordinary debit or credit cards when it comes to online shopping. Best of all, you can link your checking account to the card so that you can reload the balance with no hassle!

However, if you’ve been denied a checking account due to your credit history, it can be next-to-impossible to obtain a debit card. If this scenario sounds all too familiar to you, then don’t despair: you can still get a bank account without having to submit your credit for approval.

Your credit situation should not hold you back from the convenience of having a debit card for your financial use. Definitely, consider a prepaid debit card for your online purchases, shopping, and travel needs.

How do I fix my inccorect name on a credit check, etc?

klm12780@verizon.net asked:

For a long time, I’ve always gotten credit card applications and that sort of stuff mailed to me with an O. for my middle initial. My middle name begins with an L. Whenever i do a credit check, it comes up with the O and not the L and gives me a former address which I’ve never lived at. Nothing is wrong with my actual credit, as on the report. All the loans, credit cards, debts, etc are correct so it isn’t messing with my credit but obviously something somewhere got screwed up. Does anyone know I would go abotu fixing this in case things get messed up in the future?
I know i just spelled incorrect wrong. I just don’t know how to go back and fix it! lol
