www.enire.com Free Credit Checking Does wells fargo do a credit check before giving you a free checking account? Does wells fargo do a credit check before giving you a free checking account? Banks do not do credit checks…they do a Chexsystems or Scan check that tells them if you have bad accounts with other banks or if you bounce a lot of checks. If you have a negative Chexsystems report or Scan report many banks will not allow you to open an account with them (80% of banks use Chexsystems). Every one is entitled to one free Chexsystems report per year, just like with your credit report). You can order your free copy at www.consumerdebit.com … /index.htm. It comes in the mail you cannot view it online like your free credit report. Negative information stays on your Chexsystems report for 5 years after the bad debt is paid…so if it takes you 5 years to pay the bad debt then the negative info will stay on your report for 10 years. My bank is offering a free credit report, but I have heard that checking your credit can actually be bad 4 it. I’m not worried about hidden fees or any of that sht, I’m very careful. Just wondering if it will have an adverse effect on my credit. Too many inquiries into your credit drive your credit score down. The reason? The credit models do not take into account the “shopping for a good rate”, it sees it as being unable to obtain financing. Checking your credit report is a good thing to do once a year (some say twice) to be sure you have …

admin I applied for my first credit card, but i was denied! Why is this?
November 4th, 2008
admin I’m a twenty year-old college student who applied at Chase Bank for my first credit card, along with opening a free checking account, last week. My card was supposed to come in the mail, but instead I got a letter that said this:
“After reviewing the information provided in your application and your credit bureau report, we regret that we are unable to approve your request for a credit account at this time. The reason(s) for our decision are as follows:
Few revolving accounts opened long enough to establish credit history
Not enough accounts opened long enough to establish a credit history
Our credit decision was based in whole or in part on information obtained in a report from the consumer reporting agency listed below. The reporting agency did not make the credit decision and is unable to provide you with the specific reasons for our decision.”
What on earth did I do wrong?!
How can I have bad credit when I’ve never even applied for a credit card in my life?!

Why am I getting a credit card when I only wanted to open a checking account?
October 8th, 2008
admin I opened a free checking account recently with CapitalOne, and I have ADD, so while my banker was explaining things to me, I would occasionally drift off to daydream world. I remember her saying something about if I don’t keep my account active, I’ll have to owe extra money if I buy things with my debit card after the the amount of time of inactivity. For example, if I bought something to drink for 99 cents, I would have to owe the 99 cents PLUS $35. Something like that. She was adamant about it, too. She was really nice, and she said that’s how banks really get the bulk of their money.
And something I’m really confused about is, I don’t remember telling her I wanted a credit card… um, but I got one anyway. My account receipt only says “free checking account” and nothing about a credit card, but she did say that was going to get a debit AND a credit card in the mail. I have some important disclosures about credit cards and a couple brochures, but none of them say anything about simulaneously owning a credit and debit card. Why am I getting a credit card when I only wanted to open a checking account? I’m sorry if that’s a completely asinine thing to ask, but it is crucial for me to know.

Can I open a new checking account even If I have one that has a outstanding bill?
October 4th, 2008
admin OK I had a checking account at National City for a while but after a incident that got the account over drawn and it ended up getting closed. At first I didn’t think it was big deal as I was able to open a new checking account at a credit union where I had a saving account but when I tried to set one up at Chase, they said they couldn’t due to fact that National City needed to be dealt with. Now I’ve heard there are some places that will look past this (Wal-Mart supposedly has some guilt-free checking account) , but I dont’t wanna go anyplace to shady or nothing.
